This
went on for several minutes, ending with Jamie
giving my fist a pound, then smiling and asking
if I was a comic. "Nope," I said.
He tells me that I should give it a shot and
says that I'm funny. "ll call the manager
at the Comedy Store in Hollywood to get you
hooked up for some stage time on Amateur Night,"
Foxx said. About a week later we run into
each other again at a night spot in L.A. He
asks if I went to the Comedy Store like he
suggested. I said I hadn't and he shakes his
head. ",See," he said, "Now
I called for you too. You gotta grab those
opportunities, man."
The
grabbing of opportunities; that's a concept
that has driven Jamie Foxx from the obscurity
of a small, Southern town to the edge of worldwide
superstardom. Foxx, (born Eric Bishop) has
been a self-motivator for quite some time.
In fact, it's a skill that lead him to a co-starring
role in the hit film "Dreamgirls."

"You
have so many talented people in it, it's crazy,"
he explained, when asked about the blockbuster.
"The play was already huge, but the adding
of all these talented people will take it
to that next level. Beyonce did a great job
in the movie and Eddie Murphy was incredible.
I think that a lot of times, people miss the
little things that he does because he's so
great at what he does. When people see this
film, they will want to give Eddie an award.
I mean the job he did was amazing."
